We Are All Going To Die Someday

My dog has been weak lately. We took her to the vet and they said that she is just tired because she is getting older.

She turns ten years old later this year and it got me thinking.

Our pets are very much like our family members. We care for them unconditionally and do not anything bad to happen to them.

But that also means we are signing up for heartbreak somewhere down the line. Multiple heartbreaks if you have more than one pet.

I’ve had four dogs come and go and while I have a few pets now, I haven’t had a pet death since 2007.

As much as I want for them to live forever, I know they won’t.

It’s sad but true.

Just like our other family members, we must cherish the moments we have with each other because we never know when it would be the last time we see them. Cliche, I know, but that’s how life is.

You live and you die.

And what you do in between is what counts.

Memento mori.
